I started in photography in the late 1990's with an old fully manual FM-10 and sekonic light meter, shooting photos of the underground punk and hardcore scenes in DC and NYC. While still new to my first professional photography job, assisting for a studio In New York, I felt a calling after 9-11-01 to become an EMT and eventually a Firefighter and Paramedic, which is currently my primary occupation.
Still having the "itch" to create, and after years of relegating my photography to "hobby" status, I decided to re-enter the professional photography world, starting Robert Raymer Photography, which is focused on personal, commercial and editorial portraiture, as well as business and actor headshots
When work and family allow, I also try and keep myself busy with various personal projects ranging from live music and band photography, to experimental IR photography, and a current work in progress that deals with portraits and stories of First Responders in the DC area.
